About
Hello! My name is Richard, I’m a web developer born and raised in New York, currently living in Downtown Orlando.
What’s it like to live in Downtown Orlando?
Well, its unique. I’ve been to a lot of other cities, and most have long histories that you see as you walk around. Not at all like here. Downtown Orlando is fairly small, with a business center spanning about 10 or 12 blocks along a street called Orange Ave. Around this street the business center extends out to include residential living and restaurants. Those three things make up most of what our Downtown has to offer – offices, condos, and eating establishments. There is a decent nightlife that also centers around Orange Ave as well.
Where do you work?
I currently work as a web developer for Adventist Health System, a non-profit network of hospitals including Florida Hospital and about 20 other hospitals across the country. I help design, build, and manage websites, online applications, and a corporate intranet for these hospitals.
Prior to my current job, I worked as a lead developer for an Internet based startup called iConvene. Before that I was a developer for an interactive marketing agency MindComet.
Even before that, I used to sell incredibly awesome products at Restoration Hardware. And before that, I owned and managed my own photography company South Pacific Studios. Around the same time I also founded an educational software development company called Clove Technologies.
Yep, there’s more. Before any of that (this is where it really began), I used to work as a technology specialist for this really cool middle school (the kids were amongst the first users of Microsoft TabletPCs and they were only in the 7th grade!)
Somewhere in all that, I also spent two days of my life working for free in this guy’s loft. I was also an independent consultant for the Department of Homeland Security.
What else?
I graduated from the University of Central Florida (go Knights!)
I also love being around people, listening to music, and just enjoying life.
