I hate your read receipts

by richard on March 25th, 2009

Why do some people think it’s necessary to send a read receipt for every s-i-n-g-l-e email they send? What the heck?!

I will admit that there are some situations when requesting a read receipt is valid. Like when someone claims to never receive your emails; or if you’re sending an email that is time-sensitive or very important. Otherwise there is no reason to ever ask for a read receipt.

If fact, the number of times that a read receipt is appropriate is so infrequent that if you configure Outlook to automatically send them with every email you’re an idiot. End of story. Stop plaguing the world with your stupid need for attention.
